It's not Chicago, but . . .

Ok, so first of all - Leah has been badgering me to make a contribution to this blog for a long time now - something, anything. I've stretched "moral support" as far as it will go, so today I sit down to write my first post.

Summers in Chicago are hard to top, and you'll never get me to admit there's a better city in the world, but Nairobi scored some points today. Any city where you can take a Sunday afternoon drive 20 min. from your doorstep and cruise past giraffes, black rhinos, baboons, herds of impalas, zebras, buffaloes, and a pair of lions, makes a pretty compelling case for itself. Also, watching your wife hyperventilate can be quite an experience as well. We pulled-up to the lions, who happened to be mating about 10 feet off the road (to be honest - a surprisingly pathetic display for the supposed king of the jungle), and Leah was immediately ecstatic / terrified. She set-in snapping photos, frantically cranking up the window to avoid being eaten and bubbling about how her amazing photographic skills. Unfortunately she forgot to keep breathing!

It might not be a mid-August afternoon at Wrigley, but I'll take it.
